About this role Our sustainability reporting advisory team is experiencing unprecedented growth and demand for our services.
As a result, we have an opportunity for a senior consultant to join our team as we help clients prepare for the adoption of sustainability reporting standards in what has been described as the biggest change in financial reporting in a generation.
We take an education-first approach to this change and are passionate about supporting our clients as they navigate the intersecting worlds of traditional accounting and sustainability.
Whilst we have a deep and robust knowledge of Australian and international sustainability reporting frameworks, we understand the practical challenges that entities face in adopting these requirements for the first time.
Working directly with Partners and Directors, you will play a critical role in our growth by building strong client relationships, producing high quality deliverables and identifying potential target clients.
You will learn a great deal and be exposed to senior client teams across our broad client base.
A background in accounting, auditing or professional services is preferred and you will be skilled at balancing technical excellence with business development, project management and client relationships.
Equally important are your positive attitude and strong client focus.
You will be someone who likes to be one step ahead, friendly, hardworking and flexible with a positive attitude, providing exceptional service to the firm and our clients.
Key responsibilities Researching emerging sustainability reporting frameworksWorking as part of a team supporting client finance teams as they work through the adoption of these requirements (e.g., assisting with the facilitation of client workshops and interviews)Drafting high quality documentation (internal memos and client reports), managing executive review and ensuring adherence to quality and risk management protocolsDeveloping strong internal and external networks with peers and clientsAssisting with the preparation of proposals and general participation in business development initiativesSkills & experience You will be motivated, organised and keen to make a contribution.
This role will suit someone with the following skills, experience and attributes:
Background in professional services preferredFamiliarity with climate reporting frameworks or standards such as TCFD, IFRS SDS, or AASB S2Knowledge and practical experience with greenhouse gas emissions accounting (Scopes 1 -3) using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (ideally 1 – 3 years)Knowledge and practical experience with climate-related scenario analysis, including the use, application, and interpretation of tools and models for assessing climate-related physical and transition risksExcellent communication skills demonstrating an ability to engage with clients at an appropriate level for their knowledge base through presentations, workshops and discussionsOutstanding project and time management skillsA relevant tertiary qualificationAt Grant Thornton we do things differently because we understand that when you strive for better and care about what you do remarkable things are possible.
