VRHDandenong | Part time, Surgical NurseVRH is a multi-disciplinary specialist referral and emergency hospital.
Our hospital houses specialist departments in Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Radiology and Anaesthesia.
Whilst each department has a core team, our commitment to collaboration means we work closely together striving for optimal patient outcomes.
The hospital has existing relationships with various education institutes, meaning we often have visiting veterinarians and students.

Our surgical team consists of 2 surgeons and 5 nurses inclusive of a Nursing Team Leader and Senior Nurse.

Working closely with our anaesthetists, our nurses are encouraged to expand their technical skills and anaesthesia knowledge.

We are looking to provide outstanding, tailored and meaningful care to our patients and clients.
We receive a high number of referrals through our emergency and critical care team resulting in plenty of interesting cases.
We are looking for a nurse to work a PT roster involving 3x 10 hours shifts, Monday, Thursday and Friday.
This role has the potential to develop into a full time position.
Key Responsibilities:
Rotating through roles including hospital, anaesthesia, preparation and float.
Caring for hospitalised patients.
Delivering a high standard of compassionate care to both patients and clients.
Planning, facilitating and monitoring anaesthesia for imaging, surgery and emergency procedures.
Preparation of patients for surgery (clip and scrub).
Theatre nursing and maintaining aseptic technique.
Maintenance of theatre and sterile store including equipment.
Ensuring a clean and hygienic environment throughout the hospital.
Assisting with consultations and checks.
Conducting handover of patients between departments as necessary.
Requirements:
Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent qualification.
Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience working as a veterinary nurse in general practice or 1+ year in speciality, preferably in surgery or anaesthesia.
Strong technical nursing skills, including proficiency in IV catheter placement, blood sampling and performing a TPR.
Have a good general nursing knowledge base.
Open to learning and receptive to feedback.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
A genuine passion for providing exceptional care to animals and their owners.
The ability to work on call 1 in 6 weekends.
