The role
We are currently seeking a State Sector Manager – Rail & Metro to provide leadership and operational direction to the activities of our Rail & Metro business covering Queensland & Northern Territories, giving consideration to the national, region and global strategies.
Based out of our Brisbane office, this position ensures the operational and technical excellence and performance of the Rail & Metro sector with the effect of growing the SMEC Infrastructure function through optimal people, commercial, business development, client relationship management and project performance.
Effective planning and management of the performance of the local team in line with the Business Line and Regional plans in support of SMEC's vision and values Undertake client relationship management and business development activities in line with the Market Sector and State plans Provide project governance and project management in the local office to achieve reliable project performance in terms of sophistication, timeliness and quality Provide leadership and development opportunities to the employees located in the local office to ensure cohesion, optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development The incumbent will role model SMEC values, ethics and code of conduct and ensure all business activities are carried out in accordance with these guiding principles.
You
The successful candidate will typically have 15+ years' industry experience, recognised as an authority in the transport infrastructure design market and would have undertaken Manager / Team Lead roles in similar engineering consulting organisations, demonstrating the ability to consistently:
Manage multi-disciplinary projects successfully, to budget and client specifications Build trusting and productive client relationships Produce tender/proposal documents of an excellent standard and in a timely manner Manage a team effectively for performance and cohesion Recognised as a local authority in the sector At SMEC, you will benefit from working in a flexible global organisation with exposure to international best practice engineering design.
