The Centre and Its Staff: North Kirklees Day Opportunities is a day service for adults with complex health and behavioural needs. Service users come to our safe, informal, and friendly place to meet others and take part in activities that will help maintain their life skills. It also gives family members and carers a break from their caring roles.
Our large centre includes various bases for service users (such as Batley and Mirfield) allocated on different needs. The bases are bustling with over 30 service users each day, enjoying their time either inside the centre doing activities such as colouring, sensory activities or group games like snakes and ladders, or out visiting museums or swimming etc.
Our team are passionate about their work and having a positive impact in the day-to-day lives of our service users, promoting independence, and making a real difference. You will join a highly skilled staff team who support people to find hobbies they enjoy, while setting and achieving personal goals to take control of their lives. We recognise that some people require high levels of support, but we ensure they have opportunities to be involved in activities that are meaningful to them.

The Role: You will be supporting individuals with a wide range of tasks around movement & handling, personal care, supporting with exercise programs, administration of medication / buccal rescue medication, and Gastrostomy care.
You will be working with individuals on a 1-1 basis, who have complex health/behaviours, promoting daily living skills, offering choices / guidance, and promoting dignity, respecting service users' cultural beliefs, lifestyle, privacy and confidentiality.
You will also contribute to care plans and risk assessments, assisting with transport to/from individual's home.
