About the role This position is based in ALBANY WA.
Join our Great Southern team as a support worker in our Individualised Services program across the Great Southern.
Due to additional people wanting support Uniting currently has multiple permanent part-time and casual positions available.
Hours for the part-time roles vary from 40-60 hours per fortnight; hours for the casual roles aren't guaranteed but we usually have up to 6 shifts available for our casual pool to fill in for permanent staff, plus unplanned sick leave, so plenty to keep you busy.
The casual positions may suit people looking to supplement their income or students and semi-retired.
Uniting in Albany is looking for experienced support workers or people who are just starting their career in support work and are willing to learn, develop and grow.
The role requires provision of specific supports such as personal care, special feeding systems and strength-based conversations.
You will be expected to work various shifts with complex clients with challenging behaviours which require redirection strategies.
Day Shifts Various times and days between 6am and 6pm. Evening shifts 4pm-10pm Hourly rate 10pm-6am allowance sleep over shift 6am – 8am.

To be successful in the role, you will require the following: Must have a qualification in Community Services, Disability or Individualised Support or relevant experience in the disability sector.
If you are currently enrolled in study you may be considered for a part-time role.NDIS worker orientationUnderstanding of contemporary person-centred, strength-based support in disability services and mental healthFirst aid, medication administration and manual handling certificatesCan commit to working sleep over shifts with an ongoing roster patternKey responsibilities: Support participants in achieving their NDIS goalsSupport participants to connect with their local communities and enhance natural supportsSupport participants to prepare or participate in the preparation of mealsAssist with personal care tasks (including toileting, changing, hoisting and feeding)Provide appropriate levels of support to maintain and improve the participant's level of independent functioning, including participation in the communityRespond to the participant's needs and collaborate positively with their families, support people and others in their livesKeep accurate and complete records of activities via progress notes and Incident reportsImplement PBSP strategies when needed (training will be provided when needed)Work within the NDIS Code of ConductOngoing learning and developmentAs a not-for-profit, Uniting WA is authorised to offer salary packaging, allowing you to receive some of your income tax-free!
