Aged & Disability Support (Community Services & Development)
Hi there! I am a 19-year-old Whadjuk, Noongar woman who lives in a full-time Host arrangement in Port Kennedy with a family I love. I have a small, but very dedicated team of support workers, who support me to get ready for my day and engage in my local community.
I am looking for the right person to join my Support Team. Ideally, this person will be friendly, patient and understanding. You must be flexible, willing to learn my complexities and curious about understanding my needs – people who have experience or knowledge around cerebral palsy are a great place to start. Due to my current support needs, you also must be a female-identifying person.
I have a strong passion for exploring and learning about my culture and its history. Other activities that bring me happiness include playing games on my iPad, watching music videos, and spending time with my loved ones. I also really love animals and share my home with some rather large and friendly dogs. To communicate, I use Auslan and my POD system. I have an enteral feeding system for my food and nutrition. Experience in these would be preferred but is not essential; training can be provided. I have a small van that I use to access the community, so being a confident and capable driver is a must! I prefer having a relatively calm home where I can retreat to my space when feeling tired or overwhelmed.
