About Nexus Complex and Individualised Supports (NCIS) The Nexus Complex and Individualised Supports (NCIS) team supports young people and adult clients with a range of psychosocial and intellectual disabilities in residential and community settings.
The team is focused on providing support to clients who have a high level of capabilities and independent decision-making skills but who also have a range of complex support needs arising from trauma, emotional, intellectual and psychosocial issues. All roles within this team are supported by allied health based therapeutic programs, staff training, and mentoring which have been designed around the individual needs of each client.
Our Ideal Candidate will have the following: Ability to relate to clients as participating members of society whilst respecting their level of knowledge and skillAbility to build rapport with a wide range of peopleWillingness to learn and a positive, open mindsetEffective communication skills, including written, verbal and non-verbalAn understanding of the NDIS and its impacts on clients and familiesAbility to manage emergency situations and stressDemonstrated positive approach to the rights of people with disabilitiesAbility to assist in the implementation of training programs for clientsExperience with Positive Behaviour Support and trauma, including Trauma Informed Practice (desirable)Working in the disability sector means you will also need the following: Current National Police Check (no more than 6 months old)Current Working with Vulnerable People Card (with a NDIS endorsement / employment type)Current First Aid certificate (HLTAID011) and medication training (HLTHPS006)Certificate of full Covid-19 vaccination (in-line with government requirements).Note: A pre-employment physical will be required for this role (including drug and alcohol testing).
