Support Engineer

Initial 12-month contract, with possible 2 x 12-month extensions
No Award applies for this role: Rates from $110.00 per hour are offered (inclusive of superannuation and casual loading) - dependent on skills and experience.
8 hours per day - 40 hours per week
Australian Citizens required - NV1 or ability to obtain
Locations: Canberra ACT or Sydney NSW

About the Role:
A Federal Government Agency requires a Support Engineer to process data quality enhancements across several existing systems. The successful candidate will have the technical ability to work with developers in building Java-based solutions for business needs, or to expand upon existing Java-based applications.
Responsibilities include:

Work and communicate effectively with agency staff and external vendors, from various technical and non-technical backgrounds
Respond to technical questions in support of and to maintain existing agency applications
Meet the goals and objectives of the agency through delivering assigned tasks and working with the team
Review IT Systems' support requirements, updating records of support requests and addressing system fixes and enhancements
Work with Delivery Managers and Technical Leads to improve the stability, security and reliability of existing IT Systems applications
Mentor other staff within the team

Required Skills and Experience:

Technical ability to work with other developers to build Java-based solutions to business needs, or to expand upon existing Java-based applications
Experience with AML/CTF software systems
Ability to support technical projects by extending and expanding IT Systems applications including coding, testing and installing high quality applications
Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to assess, process, cleanse, and verify potential problems
Ability to assist with producing various technical documents including production support artefacts
