Job DescriptionHome for Good works to find sustainable solutions for people who are homeless or for individuals, families and children who might become homeless without support. Located in inner-city Brisbane, a range of services are available for individuals and families including information, support, advocacy, health, recreational, and employment services. These services are funded and compliant with Queensland Government Specialist Homelessness Program Guidelines.
As the Support and Advocacy Worker, you will work as part of Home for Good to provide either centre based or outreach services through assessment, triage and prioritisation based on presenting needs of individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
This is a permanent part time employment opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 2 of the SCHADS Award. Desired Skills and ExperienceKey Responsibilities: Promote a culture of respect, safety, and trauma-informed approaches.Deliver centre-based or outreach services using a person-centred approach.Develop support and health care plans.Advocate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.Prepare documentation for housing and service eligibility.Submit referrals to internal and external agencies.Transport individuals to support services or safe accommodation as needed.Enter and process data accurately and timely.Participate in supervision, professional development, meetings, and training sessions.Contribute to a safe workplace in compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.Formal qualification relevant to the role and/or demonstrated experience in a community-based environment.Knowledge or capacity to acquire knowledge of solution-focused and problem-solving approaches.Strong engagement and interpersonal skills with a non-judgemental approach.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally diverse backgrounds.IT competency, including data and case management systems, Outlook, and Office.Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to work both autonomously and within a team.How to Apply!
