Production, Planning & Scheduling (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics) We are a family-owned Premium Wine Business looking for an experienced and hands-on Supply Planner.
Position Overview: As a Supply Planner in the wine industry, you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal availability of products to meet customer demand while maintaining inventory efficiency. Reporting into the CFO, you will collaborate closely with production, sales, and logistics teams to create and execute a comprehensive supply plan that aligns with the company's goals and market trends.
The ideal candidate will have experience in supply chain management, a deep understanding of demand forecasting, and knowledge of the wine industry's unique production cycles, including harvest and bottling timelines.
Key Responsibilities: Supply Planning:Develop and maintain supply plans for wine production, ensuring alignment with sales forecasts, production schedules, and inventory targets.Collaborate with production teams & co-packers to manage packaging material inventories and anticipate potential shortages or delays.Monitor and adjust supply plans to respond to demand fluctuations, sales trends, and market dynamics.Inventory Management:Work with sales and marketing teams to refine demand forecasts and align supply with market requirements.Track inventory levels of finished goods, ensuring sufficient stock across multiple locations while avoiding excess.Ensure optimal balance between inventory levels and customer service requirements.Production Coordination:Coordinate production schedules with winery teams to ensure timely bottling, labelling, and distribution.Plan for the long lead times associated with vineyard harvests and wine aging processes.Ensure effective collaboration between production, sales and co-packers to meet market demand.Liaise with suppliers to secure necessary materials and packaging components, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions, working with multiple vendors to mitigate risks.Data Analysis & Reporting:Analyse supply chain data to identify areas for process improvement, cost savings, and efficiency gains.Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, production status, and supply chain performance.Use data-driven insights to drive decisions and recommend solutions for improving supply chain processes.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Communicate regularly with key stakeholders across production, sales, and distribution to align on supply chain objectives.Assist in the development of new products by providing input on supply chain considerations during planning phases.Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in supply chain planning, inventory management, or a similar role, preferably in the beverage or wine industry.Strong understanding of production cycles, lead times, and inventory management principles specific to wine manufacturing.Proficiency in supply chain planning software and ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Business Central and/or Anaplan beneficial).Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and forecast trends.Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Knowledge of wine production processes will be looked upon favourably.Problem-solving skillsDetail-oriented with a focus on accuracyStrong organizational skillsEffective time managementProactive and able to anticipate supply chain challengesMust have the right to work in Australia.
