Purchasing, Procurement & Inventory (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics) Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities.
In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project.
Harmony owns 100% of the Eva Copper project, a near-term copper project in Queensland, Australia.
These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane. This is a residential expatriate opportunity residing in Lae, Papua New Guinea, working on a 5/2 day roster.
FIFO from/to Australia working on a 16/12 day roster will also be supported. Reporting to the General Manager – Hidden Valley Mine, the Supply Manager is responsible for the overall management for Hidden Valley and Lae warehousing, logistics, inventory management, import, export, customs and associated contract management of third-party providers and agencies.
Key Responsibilities:Provide leadership to ensure benchmark safety performance is achieved and maintained.Establish all required systems, standards and policies for the management of operations.Ensure the training needs analysis (TNA) for the department and all team members is fit for purpose and up to date for each financial year (FY) period.Oversee and manage development of a departmental budget consistent with the company objectives and strategic plans.Monitor budget cost variance and act in a timely manner to ensure that these costs operate within budgetary constraints and ensure consistent application of company policies in this regard.Identify Capital requirements and authorise Departmental expenditure, ensuring consistent application of company policies in this regard.Differentiate between excess inventory and obsolete equipment and dispose of obsolete inventory.Management of the Hidden Valley Mine and Lae Logistics and Warehousing teams.Responsibility for the management of local freight contracts from Port to Site and foster local supplier development.Warehouse management and logistics optimisation.Maintain and develop relationships with Harmony's stakeholders.Management of site major component repairs and site disposal plan for inventory and equipment.Management of demurrage cost and plans to reduce monthly charges.Coaching and development of subordinate staff to achieve business requirements and establishment of training processes and skills development for all team members.Internal and external reporting on supply related activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Participate as a key member of the Senior Management Team to develop initiatives, strategies, standards and policies to ensure project implementation in accordance with the strategic business plan.Remain abreast of key industry / regulatory developments and analyse new legislation to determine impact on risk exposure.Assist with the review and development of Policy and/or Procedures for all activities performed in warehousing, including stock preservation, scrap disposal, disposal of obsolete equipment and maintaining a safe, clean and appropriate environment.Review and update Warehousing, Cataloguing and Inventory standards.Ensure activities of the Supply Department comply with SOX requirements.Management of containers on site including maintaining a complete register.Develop Supply KPIs for monthly reports; implement recording and reporting of these.About You:You should be a self-motivated professional holding the following qualifications and experience:
