The OpportunityWe have an opportunity for an experienced Supply Base Operator to join our team.
This role is required to ensure on-time vessel departures by conducting packing, loading, unloading, securing and storing cargo and warehouse inventory in a safe and efficient manner, under general guidance of the supervisor, with responsibility and competence for all specialised area of operation including:
Base wharf operationsBase warehouse rolesBase maintenance activities including contractor interfaceKey responsibilitiesPerforms tasks including dogging, packing and unpacking freight, slinging, manifesting, materials handling and housekeeping.In addition, performs additional tasks including supervision and coaching of less experienced operators, driving forklift, pumping bulk liquids, directing loading operations and all base warehouse tasks.Use site procedures (critical, normal, work aids) for procedure related tasks for any area on site including wharf and warehouse operations.Complies with legislative and Company Occupational Health and Safety requirements and establishes safe working practices.Leads work planning activities including JSA development and review for any work area on site.Competent use of relevant machinery, equipment, tools and associated equipment.Assists and where appropriate leads with maintenance activities.Completion of required site documentation and record keeping including proactively identifying and following through to completion on improvements and updates.Reports all incidents, injuries and near misses in accordance with procedures.Participates in emergency response and emergency drills.Participation in incident reporting and incident investigation and review.Potential stand in for leadership roles on site.Participate within experience and training in emergency response and emergency drills.Demonstrates leadership in activities on site and across all areas of their competence.Diagnose and solve problems, and implement improvements in relation to equipment, materials handling procedures, interfacing with external contractors (for example transport, catering, maintenance etc) and administration.Works flexibly within and to the limits of their competence and builds competence in others and demonstrates leadership within their area of competence.Ability to identify problems and suggest solutions.
Actively involved in implementing solutions, updating Supervisors and Coordinators on plans and progress.ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCEExperience using SAP MM modules.Minimum Certificate III qualifications in warehousing operations or 4 years industry experience.Advanced skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.Knowledge and experience of applicable standards and legislation for dangerous goods handling and storage.Experience in the same or a similar position.IATA (desirable).IMDG (desirable).About youTo be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
