Position Summary
This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing strategic merchandising and market management for specific commodities and product categories.
Key Responsibilities
Commodity Positioning – Determine supply and demand, survey market conditions, evaluate arbitrage and hedge opportunities, and analyze other economic forces in domestic and foreign markets to develop a market point of view (POV). Commodity Purchasing - Initiate, negotiate, and agree on terms of commodity/product purchase/sales contracts, ensuring supply and procurement of assigned commodities within approved grades/commodity types. Sales Management - Review and analyze progress towards the achievement of sales forecasts, initiating action as needed. Marketing Management - Develop, implement, and manage the Retail Farm Center marketing strategies, ensuring proper forecasting and maintenance of stock levels. Customer Management – Organize the customer base and implement customer programs effectively. Supplier Management - Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and assist Location Managers with related issues. Risk/Regulatory Management – Ensure buy/sell processes comply with internal policies and applicable laws. What is expected of you and others at this level
Demonstrates expertise in own area within the organization. Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends solutions. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions. Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred. 7-10 years' relevant experience required. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Physical Requirements and Working Environment
