Mount Isa Mines is seeking suitably qualified and experienced applicants for the role of Supervisor – Purchased Concentrate.
Reporting to the Superintendent – Laboratory within the Tech Services & Planning team, you will be responsible for effectively managing staff to ensure the primary business needs of the laboratory purchased concentrate team are met.
This challenging role will see you working closely with technical services and planning, quality control and assurance, marketing and external trucking companies to ensure the analytical and reporting demands are met, in an accurate and timely manner.
This is a Mount Isa residential position, and you will be required to work in accordance with a 5/2, day-shift roster.
You will be responsible for: Reporting data in a timely manner to the laboratory clientsEnsuring the data release complies with the pre-set quality criteriaEffectively communicating the routine maintenance requirements of equipment to ensure a high level of equipment up-timeMaintaining an understanding of the operation, maintenance and calibration of the analytical systems used within the teamRegularly conforming to customers pre-set turnaround timesVerifying data and checking compliance of QC dataDocumenting compliance to sample prep quality procedures when requestedMaintaining a clear understanding of general customer expectationsMaintaining competency levels of staff as detailed by the competency chart systemManaging of staff labour coverage and compliance to mandatory trainingEnsuring the cross training of staff is in place to cover the range of analysis and requirements when staff leave is in effectManaging staff sign-off and understanding of the laboratory RA's and JSEA'sYou will have the following: Tertiary Qualifications in Science or Chemistry desirable.Demonstrated experience in a similar role with at least 7 years.A strong knowledge of application of analytical chemistry in a mining environmentA proficient knowledge of NATA Quality Management SystemsA strong focus on implementing and monitoring QAQC protocolsExperience with LIMS systems in particular LabwareA focus on safety in the workplaceAbility to work within a team environment.The ability to maintain relationships with delivery truck drivers, ISF supervisors and production planning teamA strong commitment to safety and the environmentFor further information, please contact: Leanne Kretschmann on 0439 875 396.
