About the Project 
This is an opportunity to join a once in a lifetime Tasmanian Project for the Creative Design and Construction of the iconic New Bridgewater Bridge. 
 
You will be helping to shape Tasmania's largest Infrastructure project while contributing to and growing with a highly motivated, multi disciplined and diverse Project Delivery Team.

McConnell Dowell is currently recruiting for a Supervisor for our New Bridgewater Bridge Project, based in Hobart. reporting to the Erection Superintendent, the Supervisor's primary role and responsibility is the efficient management and coordination of the work crews for successful and timely completion of the superstructure of the project. 

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in managing and delivering complex superstructures such as precast segmental projects including post tensioning with heavy lift experience.
 
Key accountabilities include:
Daily, weekly planning and coordination of the above scope of works. The supervisor will work closely with the engineering team to develop lookahead plans in line with the overarching Construction Programme. Managing of 'self perform' labour force and other construction resources including plant and equipment for the timely delivery of the above scope of works. Promote and develop a close working relationship with the engineering team in the interpretation of technical documentation and assist with troubleshooting of issues in a timely manner. Develop with the Site/Project Engineer to ensure quality control process including ITPs and checklists are being fully implemented within the construction of each element to ensure timely release of Hold and Witness Points associated with each item. Active emphasises and drive hazard identification and risk assessment processes and ensure 100% compliance in implementation of Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS), START Cards, permit processes in line with HSE Management Plan. Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with the construction method statements and requirements of the relevant specifications, codes, and standards, which form part of the contract. Proven ability to effectively communicate the planned activities with other interfacing teams and work collaboratively to ensure critical targets are achieved. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with Client and Surveillance representative and proactively seek to resolve issues. 
What we're looking for: 
Trades qualification relevant to the construction or building industry. Minimum 5 years' experience working on structural projects in a supervisory or similar role. Tier1 experience preferred. Willingness to proactively drive and motivate the working group to better the target programme. Strong and proven ability to lead, direct and manage groups of diverse employees. Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same. Strong and clear communication skills with proven ability to engage others. Personal values aligned to McConnell Dowell's values of safety and care, honesty and integrity, customer focus, teamwork, and performance excellence. A strong commitment to the safety promise of "Home Without Harm" Valid working rights in Australia.
