Western Plains Correctional Centre (Western Plains) is Victoria's newest maximum-security correctional facility, designed to house up to 1,248 people in custody.
Western Plains is a multi-purpose facility that adapts to the evolving needs of Corrections Victoria. It features purpose-built modern amenities including medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities. It also utilises cutting-edge technology to keep the facility secure, allowing staff to focus on supporting the rehabilitation of people in custody.
Western Plains will open mid-2025 and Corrections Victoria are now recruiting key roles to help shape the future operations of the facility.
About the role
As part of the Workforce and Prison Services (WPS) team, the Executive Services team is dedicated to delivering essential corporate and ancillary services support to prison operational teams and prisoners.
The Supervisor, Executive Services will be responsible for leading a small team of Executive Services Officers, managing performance to ensure delivery of critical priority projects. This role operates within a complex legislative framework and preparation of policies, reports and briefs will be a key output of this position.
Liaising with multiple stakeholders both within and external to Corrections Victoria, the Supervisor - Executive Services will be responsible for researching and responding to various Ombudsman requests, prisoner correspondence and represent the prison as required at various forums.
In addition, this role will be responsible for contributing to business planning and risk management activities, as well as preparing high level documentation of a complex and sensitive nature for the prison's executive leadership team.
To be successful in this role, you will:
Demonstrate a proven ability to plan, monitor and deliver service development projects within a legislative framework.
Possess expertise in the preparation of key policies, reports and high-level complex briefs.
Show leadership capability through strong communication skills to effectively maintain a high performing team and ensure delivery of quality complex work within a highly regulated framework.
Qualifications
Relevant project management, policy and/or legal qualifications or equivalent experience would be desirable.
