We are seeking a high performing Supervisor to lead our civil works team in delivering construction and maintenance activities. Council's Transport Network Operation (TNO) branch provides high level maintenance, construction and asset management services for all road and related infrastructure assets (pavements, bridges, drainage, pathways and street furniture). About the Role: The Supervisor (Civil) position will coordinate day-to-day activities involved in the construction and maintenance programs including leading employee safety, fostering a work culture reflective of council's corporate values, and assisting with the formulation and monitoring of capital works asset rehabilitation and maintenance programs. Communicate proactively with the Service Delivery Leader/Project Engineer and keep management informed on work site issues and project milestones. Lead allocated work teams, fostering a team culture reflective of council's corporate values and 7 safety essentials. Promptly and sensitively address safety, performance or behaviour matters as they arise. Undertake performance planning and reviews with employees, providing feedback, identifying training and development needs. Work as part of the leadership team, collaborating with other Supervisors, Service Delivery Leaders and Project Engineers. Champion council's digital technologies to improve management of workflow. Ensure that standards of high quality and productivity are maintained. Undertake and report upon asset/QA testing programs. Evaluate service requests and other enquiries from the public and Councillors, and action where appropriate. Meet obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act and the Environmental Protection Act. About You: You'll be enthusiastic and reliable, with strong time management skills. Your capability to communicate effectively, motivate others and provide leadership to your team will be highly regarded, and you'll be confident with the use of technology such as mobile devices and Microsoft Office. You will possess relevant experience in civil construction and maintenance with strong knowledge of safety and environmental compliance standards. A General Induction Construction Card or equivalent is a requirement for this role as well as a current "C" class driver's licence. You will have proven team leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate others and develop teams to achieve common goals. Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
