You will supervise, coordinate, and provide leadership to the Anatomical Pathology, Histology, and Cytology services in the Townsville Group Laboratories to ensure that all laboratory practices comply with Pathology Queensland requirements in providing an effective, efficient, client-focused Anatomical Pathology service across the Townsville Health Service Districts.Responsibilities:

Supervise diagnostic testing, development of scientific practices and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a medium-sized multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards, procedures and protocols within Townsville Group Laboratories.Apply specialist scientist knowledge, experience, and skills and provide scientific leadership in pathology services to a medium-sized multidisciplinary team of scientific and operational staff.Provide expert advice to peers and relevant stakeholders on professional, scientific, resources, and operational issues relating to service provision and provide after-hours support and advice on complex scientific and technical issues.Support the development of scientific knowledge and expertise in the laboratory through active learning and professional development of all laboratory staff.Demonstrated ability to apply well-developed scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of Anatomical Pathology advice to the clinical unit where appropriate.Demonstrated ability to provide advice to laboratory staff and clients on a broad range of issues pertaining to service delivery and improvement opportunities for Pathology Queensland.Demonstrated ability to provide scientific services to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards and established principles/procedures.Demonstrated well-developed knowledge, expertise, and skill in the management of Anatomical Pathology in line with the strategic direction of Pathology Queensland.Demonstrated knowledge and experience in supervising employees and laboratory operations in an Anatomical Pathology setting.Qualifications, Registrations, and Other Requirements:

The successful applicant must hold at least a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Science (or agreed equivalent) from a recognised university or tertiary institution.Demonstrated experience in Anatomical Pathology of at least 5 years as a senior scientist with relevant regular experience at Senior Supervising Scientist level in Anatomical Pathology would be considered highly desirable.In some circumstances and following consultation, Queensland Health staff may be required to participate in 24-hour shift, on-call or weekend roster arrangements.How to Apply:
