Details: The ACT Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) was established by the Director of Public Prosecutions Act 1990 (the Act) to institute, conduct and supervise prosecutions and related proceedings.
It comprises the Director of Public Prosecutions (the Director), an independent statutory officer appointed by the ACT's Executive branch of Government, and staff employed under the Public Sector Management Act 1994, to assist the Director.
The principal role of the ODPP is to determine whether or not to continue or initiate the prosecution of matters referred by the Australian Federal Police and Australian Capital Territory regulatory agencies and, if it decides to do so, to fairly conduct the prosecutions and any appeals or related proceedings which may arise.
This position is a combined legal advocacy and management role.
You will also supervise and lead a team of prosecutors.
The position will require you to routinely prepare and attend complex hearings, pre-hearing applications, sentences, appeals and bail applications, as well as manage a complex legal practice.
As a Supervising Lawyer, you will also be responsible for the day-to-day guidance, training and development of the prosecutors within your team.
The position will appeal to a person who has proven advocacy experience, a desire to appear in complex court work, and the ability to successfully lead a team.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements: Admitted to, or eligible to, practice as a legal practitioner in the ACT.The successful candidate will be required to undergo a National Police Check.Work in the office five days per week.Note: This process may form a merit pool to be utilised in the filling of future vacancies.
