About the role Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.
We are looking for a  Superintendent – Residue Management Area (RMA)  to take accountability for the diverse range of activities required to successfully process, store and farm our tailings to ensure that our facility is maintained at a high standard at our Yarwun Refinery.
You will lead both the operations and maintenance team, with the teams working across a range of roster patterns.
You will have a total of around 25 reports (direct and in-direct) as well as being accountable for interfacing with and supporting numerous contracting and project partners as we move into an extension phase for our tailing's facility.

Reporting to the  Manager Utilities & RMA and working in a challenging and exciting environment  you will be: Accountable for the overall safety performance of the RMA operations and maintenance teams.
Accountable for RMA environmental and regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.
Accountable for Dam Safety requirements in accordance with our standards  Leadership of our operations and maintenance teams as well as supporting our key contracting partners to deliver safe, productive outcomes Interfacing with and supporting the Capital project execution team to deliver successful outcomes  Provide coaching to team members on daily routines and rituals, including shift start meetings and in-field safety interactions and visual leadership.
Accountable for identifying and supporting training and development needs for team members.
Accountable for safe delivery and execution of schedules pertaining to plant, equipment and tailings deposition in the area Accountable for development and managing annual area budget.
Collaborates closely with other key networks and stakeholders in the value chain to support safe execution of Refinery plan.
Key contributor to the Utilities and RMA leadership team and the broader Yarwun leadership team, to drive improvements in safety, production and costs.

Around 700 people support the operation, with an additional 350 contractors on site each year as part of scheduled maintenance shutdown activities.
Thanks to its focus on innovation, Yarwun is also a leader in trialling new technologies to improve operations on site, including robotics and drones in confined spaces, decarbonization initiatives including trialing use of hydrogen as an alternate fuel source and is home to Rio Tinto's innovative Queensland Research and Development Centre (QRDC).
Along with Boyne Smelters Limited and Queensland Alumina Limited, our Yarwun Operation supports the local community in a wide range of initiatives through Here for Gladstone.
