Our Lihir operation in the Power and Utilities Department is now recruiting for the position of Superintendent – Power and Utilities Operations. The role will have the following responsibilities: Drive and influence proactive safety behaviours within workgroups through visible leadership.Ensure all personnel, visitors and contractors comply with site and contractual HSE requirements and hold people accountable for adherence.Plan work so that it can be conducted safely; and consider environmental conditions, nearby activities, and the people and other resources needed to complete the work.Work by PNG Mine Safety Act, Newmont Safety System, Safety Policies and Procedures and Newmont Environment policies and all departmental operating procedures.Assume responsibility for the performance and development of an operations shift.Manage power, steam, fuel and water availability to meet customer demand daily.Identify and prioritise breakdowns and unscheduled maintenance to meet operational requirements.Monitor the performance of the HV network.Ensure department compliance with MRA and site standards is met daily.Provide operational reports as required.Liaise with the P&U Manager on all matters as required.The Requirements 7+ years of relevant work experience.Previous experience working in a remote location in a developing country advantageous.Detailed knowledge of power generation and boiler operations.Experience in operating and switching HV networks.Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication and public speaking skills.Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.Sound planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines.Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training.Tertiary qualified Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma.Certificate 4 in Workplace Assessment and Training or similar.Must be open to residential role.Roster 5: 2.Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment.Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.Our Commitment to You Newmont is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
