Kickstart a career at NAB with our summer internship.
Our summer internship is for undergraduate and postgraduate students in their second last year of study.
It's an eight-week paid program run over the university summer break.
You'll discover what it's like to learn and work at one of Australia's largest and most successful financial institutions.
You'll not only gain insights into the banking and finance industry, but you'll be provided with career coaching to help you figure out what you want from your career and how to achieve it.
Our program focuses on employability and future skills development that will complement your study and set you up for future career success.
At the end of the program, you'll have the opportunity to apply and potentially receive an early offer for our Graduate Program the following year.
Summer Intern business areasFor our Summer Intern program, you can choose one of the following business areas that align to your career aspirations.
RiskRisk management is vital at NAB to protect our customers and enable sustainable performance for the NAB group.
Maintaining a strong risk governance and framework originates at board level and flows down through the organisation.
We are responsible for setting NAB's risk appetite, providing a foundation for effective risk management and promoting an effective risk culture across NAB.
We're looking for analytical students who like to collect and analyse data to enable the right customer outcomes.
Big picture thinkers who can break it down to find actionable solutions and opportunities.
Students who are strong communicators, see the value in building relationships and have a passion for making the complex simple.
This program stream is held in Sydney and Melbourne.
Business BankingBeing Australia's largest Business Bank, we're super passionate about providing specialised financial products, market insights and advice to support our small, medium and large business customers through every stage of their operating cycle.
We're looking for students who are commercially and digitally savvy, who want to deliver a world-class customer experience and have a real passion for building a long-term career in Business Banking.
This program stream is held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
People and CultureWe are enablers to NAB's strategic ambition and custodians of our colleague experience.
We focus on making our HR services simple and easy for our people to do their jobs and serve customers well.
We provide great data and insights to help our leaders make sustainable workforce decisions.
We're looking for commercially savvy students who are curious to find world-class examples and leverage the power of data for creating colleague and customer value.
We want students with numerical capabilities who can help us transform to be a strategic and data-led HR function.
This program stream is held in Melbourne.
Corporate and Institutional BankingOur expertise is partnering with our Corporate, Government and Institutional customers to provide world-class global solutions.
Our business brings together teams of specialists to provide a full range of debt structuring, funding solutions, research, trading and custodial services.
We're looking for students who are interested in understanding global and competitor trends, market conditions and their impact on customers.
Students who are comfortable analysing financials and data, critically evaluating alternative approaches and have the agility to adapt within a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
This program stream is held in Sydney and Melbourne.
Personal BankingExperts in more than money, we're making banking simpler and easier with brilliant products.
Every day we have over 3.2 million customer interactions which may be via our digital platforms, one of our branches, through our contact centres or broker channels.
Support continuous innovation, investment in digital and transformation by working alongside talented professionals who focus every day on making it easier and safer for our customers to access our services, home lending and everyday banking products.
This program stream is held in Sydney and Melbourne.
FinanceOur Finance Team partners with the business to deliver accurate management and financial accounting outputs.
We provide specialist advice and insights by leveraging data and technology to support strategic decision-making, creating value for our colleagues, customers and shareholders.
Our team is responsible for NAB Group's finance activities and investor relations through assisting in the preparation of reports, transforming complex financial and non-financial data, and ensuring effective controls are operating in line with policy requirements.
Our Strategy and Innovation teams also sit under Finance and are critical to helping NAB achieve our strategic ambitions.
This program stream is held in Melbourne.
Eligibility for our Summer Intern ProgramYou'll need to make sure you meet the following requirements:
Citizenship and visa requirementsYou'll need to be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or be an Australian or permanent resident at the time of applying for the program.
Tertiary education requirementsYou'll need to be in your second last year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree and due to complete your degree by December 2026.
Application and selection processYour first step is to complete the application form.
This is where you'll get the chance to tell us about yourself and nominate your chosen business area.
You'll also need to upload your academic transcript.
If you're successful, you'll progress to an online assessment, video interview and finally an engagement centre.
Engagement centres are held by business area.
The Australian Association of Graduate Employers has ranked our Summer Intern Program as one of the top intern programs in the country; recognising those organisations which provide the most positive experience for interns as determined by the interns themselves.
