Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Process Control Engineer to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity, based at our Mackay, QLD refinery site. Reporting to the Technical and Process Improvement Manager, this role will play a crucial part in administering the refinery's Operational Technology (OT) systems, ensuring process stability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the refinery.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Administering and maintaining refinery OT systems, including DCS (Bailey Infi-90), PLC (Schneider), SCADA, Network, and data historian systems to ensure process stability and data integrity. Working alongside site teams on continuous improvement projects, providing programming and data fault-finding support. Supporting the Operations and Maintenance teams in troubleshooting and resolving critical factory interruptions to maintain high factory availability. Identifying and implementing upgrades in OT hardware and software to support refinery operations. Supporting process control specifications for capital projects, assisting in accurate costing and scope definition. Developing and implementing minor capital improvement projects aimed at reducing melt losses, enhancing safety, and improving reliability in the refinery. What we're wanting you to bring to the table:
Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (desirable). Minimum of 3 years' experience in process control, preferably in continuous processes or the food industry. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in process control and instrumentation systems. Strong communication and relationship building skills, with a focus on teamwork. Experience in managing and executing capital projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met. Proficiency in process control systems, SCADA, and data analysis.
