place to work.About the OPPORTUNITY We have an exciting opportunity for a Subcontracts Manager to join our Program based at Osborne, South Australia (open to look at applications from Melbourne, Sydney and Perth) reporting to the Commercial and Subcontract Manager.We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.You will be responsible for the establishment, placement and management of the appropriate contracting arrangements with capable suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business, which, through effective relationship and performance management, maximise value and minimise risk.Key responsibilities include: * Development of robust supplier sourcing strategies for the business by engaging with strategic sourcing and category management teams as appropriate * Lead the process of bids and tenders ensuring robust definition of requirements and supplier contractual terms in line with customer requirements * Lead the supplier evaluation process and support sourcing recommendations on behalf of the business * Lead supplier negotiations and finalise Supplier Agreements in accordance with set Delegations of Authority * Actively manage contractual obligations through effective subcontract management, including payments, claims, warranties, cash flow, flow down of contract amendments * Proactively manage the performance of the suppliers to achieve the requirements of the contract from a schedule, cost and quality perspective, developing and embedding the relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * Facilitate and maintain effective working relationship with the suppliers, engaging with key stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach * Identify and manage supplier risks and opportunities, including those of the suppliers' supply chains * Proactively engage with key suppliers to enhance capability and efficiency and support the enterprise engagement of the Partner to Win Program for both Strategic and Critical suppliers * Lead, manage and develop team members to deliver the required Suitably Qualified Experience Personnel (SQEP) to meet the needs of the business * Support the implementation of learning from experience practices within the team * Generate and manage the Lifecycle Management (LCM) Procurement and Subcontract Management Plans * Generate and manage Australian Industry Capability (AIC) plans in line with project requirements * Implement and follow the procurement policies and processes as determined by the Supply Chain function, ensuring compliance with the relevant acts, legal demands and ethical standards About YOU * Contract placement for assigned packages, achieving a value for money outcome with view to ongoing savings propositions signed-off * Delivery of major subcontracts, meeting time, cost, SHE, quality and certification requirements within the contract boundaries * Weekly/monthly progress reporting against contract and financial delivery, including presentation of reporting to Program Control Account Mangers and Program Senior Leadership team * In line with the 'One Team' operating principle, facilitate the integration of subcontractors into Shipbuild and Integration delivery teams * Issue resolution for assigned subcontracts, including route cause analysis and delivery of return to green action plans, escalating as to the Line of Business Production Subcontracts Manager / Head of Supply Chain as required * Well-developed self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under their own initiative to deliver outputs to time, quality and cost * Ability to use good written and verbal communication skills * The ability to form strong working relationships in a project environment, with key suppliers and internal stakeholders * The ability to positively contribute to, and solve problems of a complex nature * Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills * Ability to show initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines * Project management experience or otherwise, excellent organisational skills * Able to progress issues and resolve actions within a project team environment * Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint * Management, mitigation and retirement of risk for assigned contracts *
