Caring for our city, creating a future for all
Our people are passionate about their communities and connected to their teams. They're motivated by our genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion, and our clear, compelling plan for our global city: Sustainable Sydney 2030 – 2050 Continuing the Vision.
Be part of a purpose-led organisation with care at its core. You'll make a difference by acting in the best interests of our communities and city. Be better together with collaborative and inclusive partnerships. Embrace possibilities and be open to new ideas and creating bold solutions.
About the role
The Studio Support Officer works within the Cultural Programs and Services team to support the operation of the City's creative studio spaces, including the Pine Street Creative Arts Centre, Makerspace, and Ultimo Community Centre classroom.
This role helps keep our spaces safe and organized for the community to participate in our programs and workshops.
Each day, your tasks may vary from setting up for classes to checking stock levels and preparing students' works for pickup. The day-to-day is all about good communication, following processes, and practical work while being surrounded and inspired by creativity and community!
What you will do:

Support your team members by helping to maintain safe, clean, and organized studio spaces
Undertake daily studio functions, such as the preparation and distribution of class materials and stock control
Ensure the timely preparation and treatment of students' works across a diverse range of practices, such as 3D printing, laser cutting designs, or glazing and firing ceramics
Develop fantastic relationships, collaborate with the team, and understand best practice studio processes.

To be successful, you will:

Have, at minimum, a vocational certificate in studio-based arts/design practice or relevant manual handling certification
Have demonstrated experience in a creative arts or makerspace studio environment
Have the capacity to develop skills and support the operation of studio spaces across diverse practices
Be a team player and be passionate about making an impact in the community
Be able to undertake manual handling, lifting, and repetitive action tasks
Be flexible about working in various locations and hours as needed.

The recommended applicant must complete a pre-employment health declaration, medical assessment, criminal history and working with children check.
Applications must be submitted online by 11:59pm, Wednesday 20th November.
