About the Role Located in Charlestown, the Student Wellbeing Support Officer (SWSO) role is designed to support and assist the students of Alesco Secondary College to manage their life/school balance and continue their education.
Please note: This is a fixed term role commencing Term 1 2025 until the end of Term 4 2025.
The SWSO is focused on student welfare and creating a source of support for students so that they may form meaningful and engaging relationships with the school and other staff.
In this role, successful applicants should be able to confidently:
Develop rapport, gaining trust and respect from students to develop lasting relationships.Assist the Student Wellbeing Officers on the purpose, benefits and expectations within student wellbeing in order to promote high expectations and positive outcomes for all.Design, develop and deliver non-curriculum programs focused on life skill development or increased wellbeing.Support the successful implementation of wellbeing and community programs throughout all Alesco Senior Colleges.Provide relief as required for Student Wellbeing Officers at all campuses.Support, advocate for and represent Alesco Secondary Colleges at all external agencies' meetings.Participate in pastoral care case management to their individual campus.Consistently advocate the importance of positive staff/student relationships to the ongoing success of students within Alesco Senior College.Understand and comply with legislation and standards in accordance with program policy.Participate in school planning activities as required (e.g., fundraising, community programs, etc.
).Maintain extensive knowledge of the full range of community and wellbeing service or program delivery activities pertaining to young people's participation in school and community and collaborate and network effectively with allied services (i.e., Youth Interagency Meetings).Deal with correspondence or enquiries from other community or welfare agencies.About You You already live by the values of Inclusion, Integrity and Innovation.Certificate IV in one or more of the following:Human SciencesWelfare/Youth WorkSocial SciencesSocial WorkEffective high-level communication, interpersonal, advocacy and conflict resolution skills.A demonstrated interest in student wellbeing with experience working with disadvantaged and at-risk young people.Knowledge of behaviour, psychological and wellbeing theories, and practices relevant to young people.Proven innovative and imaginative problem-solving skills.Excellent collaboration and organisational skills.Knowledge of the secondary schooling sector and adherence to all required current legislative instruments and guidelines including child protection and safety.Experience in an alternative or independent education setting is desirable.Atwea College requires: Valid NSW Working With Children Check and current National Criminal Police Record Check prior to the commencement of employment.Child Protection Training and other ongoing legislative training as required, once employed.About our PERKS!
