Selection CriteriaKSC1 Understanding of common approaches, policies, programs and research relating to student wellbeing.
KSC2 Demonstrated ability in the delivery of student and family wellbeing services in a relevant setting and, preferably experience working with schools in the area of student wellbeing.
KSC3 Demonstrated ability to provide information, advice and support to teachers and families responsible for the management of students experiencing behavioural problems that are impacting on their learning outcomes.
KSC4 Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively, as part of a team and network with the wide range of people within the education and wider community.
KSC5 Demonstrated capacity to lead a wellbeing team and manage time effectively.
RoleRange 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of the school operations.
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities: Effectively co-ordinate the Well Being Team to meet the wellbeing needs of students, and to assist families, staff and the broader College Community.Providing high level wellbeing support to students.Providing high level assistance to families as required in the support of students.Providing appropriate staff with information relevant and necessary to ensure the wellbeing and education of students experiencing difficulties.Working with staff to develop positive College programs to foster the wellbeing of all students.Assisting in meeting the strategic needs of the school.Develop educative, and pro-active wellbeing programs and initiatives in the support of students.Providing support and assistance when relevant, in conjunction with other relevant staff, to:New students to the CollegeStudents preparing to leave the CollegeStudents experiencing difficulties at the College, at home or in the community.Acting as an advocate for students and/or as a resource for parents, carers and families.Liaising with parents and keeping parents informed of their child's wellbeing issues.Working closely with Sub-School and Team leaders when a student attends counselling and recording on Compass.Completing a document file on each student being seen.Make contributions to the Daily Bulletin, College newsletters, Social Media platforms, Annual magazine and other school publications as appropriate.Maintain awareness of current best practice in your area of work, DET Child Safety reporting requirements in secondary education.Communicate case management plans and building partnerships with Year level leaders and other relevant stakeholders.Attend SSGs and case review meetings where needed.Attend Student Support Team meetings as required.Daily reporting to Wellbeing team and Assistant Principal.Any other duties as directed by the Principal or delegate.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
