About the role TAFE SA is looking for a Student Wellbeing and Careers Officer to support students' academic and personal success through tailored counselling, welfare services, and career guidance. In this role, you will provide inclusive support to students at risk, those with disabilities, and individuals from diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate challenges and achieve their goals.
By collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will contribute to fostering a positive learning environment and promoting student wellbeing initiatives across TAFE SA.
Key Responsibilities: Offer intervention strategies using mediation, negotiation, and problem-solving techniques.Provide crisis management, financial information, and support services.Collaborate with educational business units, the Student Success and Wellbeing team, and external agencies.Key Selection Criteria: Demonstrated experience in providing career development services, including the use of career development tools.Proven ability to support the needs of students at risk, students with disabilities, and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.Experience in delivering effective counselling, mediation, and conflict resolution services.Strong knowledge of the vocational education and training (VET) sector and its current challenges.Understanding of career pathways, career service providers, and the impact of labour market trends on career direction.Highly desirable: Qualifications in counselling and/or career development.Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to demonstrate having a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to being employed. Applicants who do not hold a WWCC will need to apply at Department of Human Services (DHS).
Out of hours work will be required.Intra/interstate travel may be required.Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Development Program.Eligibility to work in Australia.Please refer to the Role Description for all Special Conditions.
