About the Role
The Student Statutory Planner position supports the delivery of high quality land use and development in a progressive and customer first organisation. In this role, you will work, under supervision, across a diverse range of statutory planning projects including single dwelling developments/extensions, multi-unit developments, heritage proposals, industrial and commercial developments and applications abutting our creek environments. The role is a temporary, part-time position while studying.
Several of the key duties of the positions include:
Prepare, under supervision, quality and professional planning advice to customers. Prepare, under supervision, reports and recommendations to Council's Statutory Planning delegate on minor planning applications and amendments, assessment of plans to comply with conditions of permit and on other statutory matters, as required. Provide, under supervision, quality and professional advice to internal and external departments, agencies, developers and the community regarding planning legislation, regulations, policies and procedures. Assist with the development of services, projects and programs provided by the department. Undertake other duties as directed within the skills and abilities of a position at this level. Skills & Experience General knowledge of planning, and related legislation impacting on the municipality, the planning scheme, local laws and Council policy. Ability to research and analyse planning related issues. Ability to manage time, set priorities and prepare and implement work plans in order to achieve desired results within the resources and time available. Well developed customer service principles.
