If you want a career where you can thrive, be challenged and do meaningful work, you're in the right place.Why Your Role MattersThe Student Residential Wellbeing Officer is a key position in the UNSW Colleges, within the Education Pillar of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education & Student Experience (PVCESE). The role will work in partnership with the Head of Colleges and Deans to enhance student wellbeing and provide targeted education and training programs in wellbeing and mental health (including gendered violence). The Residential Wellbeing Officer will be a first responder in providing support and reporting events/issues in accommodation, and act as a point of referral to campus and external specialist support. The role will also actively support the development of college policies and procedures considering the needs of all resident students within the colleges and other accommodation.Main Responsibilities SummaryAct as a point of contact for students who have self-referred, or been referred by a member of staff, for wellbeing support. Ensure appropriate initial assessment, brief counselling support and/or onward referral to internal and/or external services is provided.Act as the first point of contact in the management of complaints, disclosures and gendered violence incidents in conjunction with the Head of Colleges and Deans.Provide case management/care coordination support to residential students by coordinating, monitoring and documenting care arrangements.Support staff responding to students and provide training to the residential staff teams in elements of health promotion, wellbeing and safety.Create and lead the training and inductions programs for new students joining the college community and develop policies to support the student experience and enhance wellbeing in the college community.Manage and update records related to the education and training of residential staff and leaders.In conjunction with Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and the Equitable Learning Unit, create and deliver support programs for students with disabilities.Liaise with the Conduct and Integrity Office (CIO) and other stakeholders to deliver prevention initiatives in line with the Gendered Violence Strategy and Action Plan 2022-25.Lead and coordinate health promotion initiatives and events for the college community.Who You AreWe are looking for someone who is aligned with UNSW's vision and values, with the ability to motivate and inspire students and establish and maintain high standards of wellbeing and behaviour. We'd love you to come equipped with:Prior experience working with young adults, either in a university or in a high school environment and who has either developed interest, or worked on wellbeing programs. Ideally, you are a qualified psychologist.More broadly, you'd have prior experience related to educational programs and initiatives including experience in secondary or tertiary education, health promotion, wellbeing, social work and/or psychology.A successful track record in dealing with welfare issues at every stage of process and stakeholder engagement, including conflict resolution.Demonstrated experience providing effective customer service and support to clients at all levels.Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate projects and tasks.Strong student focused service orientation together with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to use judgment and discretion and seek advice and assistance from senior/specialist staff as required.Candidates need to have full time working rights for the role – no sponsorship is available for the role.
