About the role Townsville Catholic Education Office is seeking applications for the position of Student Protection Officer - Research and Assessment.
Reporting to the Student Protection Manager, this part-time permanent role will see you drawing on investigation findings and expert knowledge to lead investigations into allegations of historical abuse.
While the position is part time, hours per week may be increased/performing additional hours may be required as need arises.
Additionally, you will be responsible for the provision of advice and coordination of risk mitigation and management strategies, management of historical claims and will work to identify potential victims and perpetrators.
About You Demonstrated ability working within complex, emotionally charged operating environments with an ability to maintain high levels of resilience.
Experienced and confident communicator both verbally and written, demonstrated through the preparation and presentation of reports, briefing and decision-making papers to internal, external and multi-level stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive information Demonstrated ability to communicate with sensitivity, tact and respect with parties impacted directly or indirectly by abuse.
An in-depth understanding (or ability to rapidly acquire an in-depth understanding) of the history of Townsville Catholic Education and relevant religious orders.
A knowledge of contemporary process and avenues which support victims of historical abuse.
In depth knowledge of current child protection issues, including trauma and child development.
Mandatory Criteria The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work or Behavioural Sciences or similar Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers Current Driver's Licence Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
Willingness/availability to work increased hours (greater than the 19 weekly hours) on a per-needs basis if required.
Some employees may be subject to pre-employment medical assessments during the selection process.
