About us The University Experience division within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) portfolio provides student-facing services, engagement and enrichment programs and education, prevention and early intervention work and initiatives.
The Student Life team are part of this division and are responsible for the high-quality delivery of student development initiatives, community engagement programs that foster social connectedness, skill building, and belonging amongst ANU students to improve their student experience.
Our team is dedicated to supporting students' success through collaborative programs, activities, and support that leadership development, diversity and inclusion, and community engagement.
The Community Engagement stream within Student Life focuses on delivering co-curricular programs that aim to build a sense of belonging for students, empower them to act on community issues, and build social connections through experiential learning and skill sharing.
The key focus areas our co-curricular programs address are active citizenship through volunteering, experiential learning through community gardening and cooking, provision of basic needs food relief, education on reducing food waste, and sustainability.
About the role The Community Engagement team are seeking an experienced community engagement practitioner who has experience in strengths-based approaches, working with diverse communities, and has a proven ability to collaborate with a team of dedicated practitioners to build community and connections with students and foster belonging.
A key aspect of this role will be continuing to promote and engage students in volunteering opportunities within the university community and wider community through a commitment to active citizenship through action, reflection, and capacity building through the ANU+ Award.
The Student Life Officer, Community Engagement, role is responsible for the delivery of the ANU+ award, the University's co-curricular Award.
Key duties include: Manage the end-to-end workflow of the Award including facilitation of face-to-face workshops with students engaging in the Award, marking students' timesheets and reflections, and applying the Award on student transcripts when completed. Oversee the administration, reporting, and evaluation of ANU+ Award, provide ongoing supervision and training of student casuals and volunteers throughout the year. Organise and deliver flagship events and activities such as volunteer fairs, end of semester completion ceremonies whilst contributing to wider Student Life activities such as Orientation week, Open Day, etc. For enquiries please contact: Ms Ash Dowling, Deputy Manager Community Engagement, Student Life.
