Student Learning Advisor (Mathematics) Sydney CBD, Sydney, Australia About the role The Student Services team contributes to and improves the student experience by encouraging student engagement, facilitating the maximisation of student learning opportunities, promoting student access and delivering a range of student oriented services and development programs.
Working within the Student Services team, the Student Learning Advisor (Maths Support) works collaboratively with the student services and academic teams in the development and provision of academic, study and learning support to the diverse student body.
Responsibilities include: Assisting international students with the transition to study in an Australian learning environment. Development of appropriate study skills, assignment and study planning help. Development and implementation of strategies for enhancement in mathematics and science related subjects. Advising students with poor academic performance. Contributing to the development of academic and learning support programs and strategies. The Student Learning Advisor (Maths Support) will work with students individually in appointments, and with groups in workshops and in the classroom setting, to conduct needs analyses and provide tailored support.
The person we seek will ideally have the following: Education and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a degree, or a diploma in conjunction with relevant work experience in a student or academic support role. Education qualifications (Maths and Science) highly regarded. Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of student academic support programs, preferably in a tertiary environment. Demonstrated evidence of the ability to teach academic skills to individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds, and to assess mathematics and science skill levels. Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, promote, facilitate, monitor and evaluate learning interventions independently.
