The Student Affairs and Engagement portfolio supports the academic, professional and social success of over 14,000 undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences through the delivery of a range of innovative engagement programs.The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a communications and events specialist to join our high performing and student-focused team in the role of Student Experience and Engagement Officer.Working in a fun, dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will be coordinating communications including creating newsletters, developing marketing collateral, and organising and delivering student-focused initiatives at scale.You will also provide administrative support for the successful delivery of our suite of student programs including the:First Year Transition ProgramInternational Student ProgramStudent Leadership ProgramStudent Partnership ProgramStudent Success and Advising ProgramTherapaws: Student-led dog therapyWe are a high-performing, supportive team that values your professional development and achieving positive outcomes for students and staff. The team has been awarded three Vice Chancellor's Awards for Excellence for the quality of programs they deliver.The Student Affairs and Engagement team is dedicated to making a positive impact on the academic, social and professional success of students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This is achieved through the delivering of effective, evidence-based programs and initiatives throughout the student life cycle in the areas of orientation, transition, academic advice and progression, leadership development and volunteering, student engagement, health, and wellbeing, work integrated learning and careers.About youExcellent verbal and written communication skills, for preparing routine and more complex reports and correspondenceHighly developed interpersonal skills including building relationships and working in a client services and team environmentAdvanced level computer, desktop publishing and internet skills (including Microsoft Office, Canvas and relational databases) and experience creating marketing materials and digital media using a variety of formats such as PowerPoint, In Design, Adobe and Social Media platformsSound judgment and initiative to prioritise and meet deadlines in a high-volume environmentDemonstrated experience organising events (at scale) from concept to deliveryRelevant experience at a higher education institution, or comparable commercial or government sector experienceKnowledge of issues relating to University Policy and experience in delivering advice and support to studentsAbility to work independently as well as part of a team.Sponsorship / work rights for AustraliaPlease note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
