About the Role: This position works closely with students to provide a comprehensive range of equity and access support services that directly assist in their retention at Melbourne Polytechnic and successful completion of their studies.
The role also provides professional advice on disability, inclusion and access issues relating to the Institute as required Duties: Assess the educational support needs of prospective and enrolled students with equity and access issues including disabilities, medical conditions, mental illnesses as well as other specific equity and access needs that arise.
Prioritise support provision in relation to student needs, budgetary and other factors and provide ongoing monitoring, adjustment and evaluation in relation to those factors.
Encourage students to act autonomously in negotiating their support needs and promote independence in overcoming barriers where appropriate.
Recruit, induct and negotiate work hours and specific duties with casual Education Access Workers as required.
Work with Coordinator Student Services to develop and review policies and procedures relating to Student Equity and Access Advisor role within the organisation.
Other duties as reasonably directed within the incumbent's experience, skills and qualifications.

Skills and Experience Required: Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or work experience in a related field.
In depth knowledge of barriers faced in education by students who have a broad range of equity and access issues, particularly in relation to disabilities.
Well-developed communication and negotiation skills.
Knowledge of a range of inclusive strategies to assist people with disabilities.
Demonstrated capacity to work as a member of a team and contribute positively to planning, implementing and evaluating projects.
