The Office of the Academic Registrar at Curtin University supports and facilitates the University's governance functions, regarding both internal and external reporting requirements. The Academic Registrar's role spans both the academic and administrative processes whose duties and powers are set out in the University's statutes.
Your new role
We have an exciting full time, 12 month opportunity available for an outstanding administrator with experience in a university environment, to join the team and manage, advise and assist stakeholders in regards to student conduct (general), student appeals and complaints.
Responsibilities will include: Managing and/or investigating cases relating to student conduct (general), appeals and complaints.Administration of processes, appeals and complaints in relation to student conduct (general).Providing advice and assistance to university staff and external stakeholders regarding student appeals and disciplinary matters.Investigating and preparing the University's response to appeals and complaints made by students to external statutory bodies.Compliance with government legislation in relation to appeals, complaints management and university administration for domestic and international students.Responsible for the student conduct database and related systems.Delivering training material to university staff in relation to student conduct (general) processes and associated systems.Chairing the Student Progress Appeals Committee to consider course termination appeals in accordance with University procedure, and provide executive support to Student Discipline Panels and Boards.Preparing reports on student conduct. We are looking for (the ideal candidate): Completion of a relevant degree with considerable relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.Demonstrated high level organisational skills including the ability to prioritise, coordinate projects and meet deadlines.Demonstrated high level analytical, negotiation and mediation skills and the ability to resolve complex issues.Demonstrated ability to read and interpret legislation and policies and advise accordingly.Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and within a team environment.Demonstrated proficient computer skills in a variety of applications and experience in using customised case management system.Previous experience in a tertiary environment, particularly in a student service environment (desirable).
