Role
Patterson River Secondary College is seeking a Student Data and Goal Setting Leader in 2025.
Working as a member of the Leadership and Teaching and Learning Teams, the successful applicant will lead the implementation of the new PRSC school wide goal setting initiative to activate student agency in learning and ensure consistency of approach across the College as well as the inclusion of parents as partners in their child's learning. All Leading Teachers and Learning Specialists are members of our College's school leadership team.
In addition to involvement in strategic whole school planning and the monitoring of progress against the College's Strategic Plan, members of the leadership team meet regularly to develop their leadership skills and share experiences. All members of the leadership team also have the support of an external leadership coach.
Our College enjoys very strong survey results from students, parents and staff, outperforming like schools and state means across all areas. Leadership Module results report in the top quartile and in the top 20% of all schools for Leading Change, Intellectual Stimulation and Instructional Leadership.
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range.
The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school. Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others. Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program. Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school.
A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals. Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Assistant Principal (Curriculum Operations) and liaising with Student Engagement and Inclusion Teams, the Student Data and Goal Setting Leader has the following key responsibilities:

Coordinates staff training and support in relation to cohort wide testing (PAT and NAPLAN). Coordinates cohort wide testing (NAPLAN and PAT). Develops timelines and teaching resources for school wide goal setting initiative. Collaborates with relevant year level Program Leaders and Domain Leaders in the development of teaching resources to support the program. Delivers relevant professional learning to teachers. Leads teachers and students to understand and activate student agency in learning. Develops processes and documentation to ensure privacy and access to relevant student data. Engages in yearly review of the school wide goal setting initiative. Supports the Academic Redemption process. Assists in the planning and development of curriculum days. Competencies
Demonstrated high level understanding of student data including NAPLAN, PAT, VASS, AToSS, Teacher judgment and attendance data. Demonstrated ability to activate agency in learning with adolescents and lead whole school initiatives. Exceptional written and communication skills, including the ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
