Full time, permanent role in an all-boys Independent Catholic secondary school in Townsville.
Qualifications as a registered psychologist or social worker required and ability to be a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or accredited member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
$120,106 - $127,794 per annum plus Superannuation.
About the role
This position works collaboratively within the College Wellbeing team to support the educational, personal, social, and mental health needs of all students and families through the provision of a comprehensive counselling and consultancy service.
About the contract
The position is permanent, full time. The Student Counsellor is not required to attend for work during the school holiday period; however, it is agreed that the role may require availability for meetings before and after school, including some evening work, in the event of critical incidents on weekends and during school holiday periods. Counsellors will be entitled to annual leave on the same basis as teachers in accordance with Agreement. To avoid doubt, Counsellors will not access annual leave during the school term.
About you
To be considered for this role you will need:
Registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or accredited member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Possess a current Queensland Working with Children Blue Card for paid employees before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government. Exemption for AHPRA registered staff members.
Proven capacity to develop and implement counselling programs and associated strategies and services to support the needs of students with personal, social, and emotional needs.
Demonstrated capacity to effectively respond to sensitive and complex student issues within an ethical framework.
Capacity for effective counselling and individual case management involving a multidisciplinary approach, within an environment of competing priorities.
Capacity to develop and implement student support programs and services for students with high support needs that reflect best practices and that align with relevant policies and procedures.
