Position Title: Student Counsellor
Commencing: 20/01/2025
Type: Part-Time
Hours of Work: 8:00 am to 4.00 pm, 4 days a week, 40 weeks per year, with 4 weeks annual leave. Wage is annualised over the year.
Reports to: Coordinator of Cedar Care
FTE Salary: Commensurate with qualifications & experience
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a passionate, dedicated counsellor to join our team. You'll provide emotional and social support to students, helping them navigate challenges and build resilience. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, uphold confidentiality, and have a background in counselling. SOME KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Following policies and procedures that are legal requirements and best practices. Providing counselling to students as needed, addressing issues such as family dynamics, friendships and relationships, self-harm and self-injury, anger management, abuse, substance use, sexuality, identity, and suicide prevention. Timely and effective communication and collaboration with College staff, families, the Cedar Care Coordinator, College leadership, the Cedar Pastor and external services as appropriate. Maintaining clear and accurate case notes and files on all counselling interventions, storing case notes securely to ensure confidentiality and in line with current 'best practice', being cognisant of Cedar's legal and moral duty of care. Providing advice to staff and parents on the development, psychological, and emotional needs of students. Where appropriate, in consultation with the Cedar Care Coordinator, running programs or small group activities to meet a specific need. PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to model and develop positive relationships with students and foster their physical, spiritual, social and emotional development. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CHECKS
Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling) or equivalent Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) RRHAN-EC Training (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care) Protective Practices online course prior to employment APPLICATION PROCESS
