Student Accessibility Liaison OfficerSalary: Pro Rata PACCT 5 $73,730.51 per annum (exclusive of superannuation) Location: Box Hill Company: Box Hill Institute
Description:About the role: A highly rewarding opportunity to join Box Hill Institute as our Student Accessibility Liaison Officer. This position is ongoing, part time 4 days per week.
The Student Accessibility Liaison Officer is responsible for providing advice and support to students with a diagnosed disability and/or health condition that impacts on their ability to participate in their studies and achieve their learning goals. This involves working closely with students and staff across the Institute to identify and support the implementation of reasonable adjustments to teaching and assessment and inclusive educational practices.
The Student Accessibility Liaison Officer is a member of the Student Life team. This position is responsible for working professionally with staff at all levels of the Institute and liaising with students and clients of BHI.
The Student Life Team works cooperatively with students and staff to provide an engaging, positive and supportive learning community – a community with high student retention and success, where the student voice is heard, and which is reflected positively internally and to prospective students and clients.
About You: Tertiary qualification in Education, Disability, Inclusion, Health, Community Services or related field with relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education/training and significant relevant experienceSignificant experience working with people with accessibility needs or a health condition, preferably within the tertiary education sectorA strong understanding of the Disability Discrimination Act, the Equal Opportunity Act and other relevant legislation, and their implications for education and trainingDemonstrated experience in developing and supporting teaching and/or participation strategies which are inclusive of all studentsClarifies needs and expectations of clients, develops practical solutions using their subject expertise. Liaises and responds to client needsCommunicates well with, relates to and sees issues from the perspective of people from a diverse range of cultures, backgrounds and abilitiesDemonstrates high-level awareness of and responsiveness to people from a broad range of diverse backgrounds and emotional contextsIdentifies processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal, developing systems to guide and track progress, effectively finding solutions to barriersAbout Us:
