This position is ongoing, part time 4 days per week.
The Student Accessibility Liaison Officer is responsible for providing advice and support to students with a diagnosed disability and/or health condition that impacts on their ability to participate in their studies and achieve their learning goals.
This involves working closely with students and staff across the Institute to identify and support the implementation of reasonable adjustments to teaching and assessment and inclusive educational practices.
The Student Accessibility Liaison Officer is a member of the Student Life team.
This position is responsible for working professionally with staff at all levels of the Institute and liaising with students and clients of BHI.
The Student Life Team works cooperatively with students and staff to provide an engaging, positive and supportive learning community – a community with high student retention and success, where the student voice is heard, and which is reflected positively internally and to prospective students and clients.
The Student Life Team is an important part of BHI's student value chain providing leadership in the development and delivery of a holistic, outstanding, and distinctive student experience.
Salary for this role is pro rata $73,730.51 plus superannuation.
About You: Tertiary qualification in Education, Disability, Inclusion, Health, Community Services or related field with relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education/training and significant relevant experience Significant experience working with people with accessibility needs or a health condition, preferably within the tertiary education sector A strong understanding of the Disability Discrimination Act, the Equal Opportunity Act and other relevant legislation, and their implications for education and training, as well as the ability to inform, guide and negotiate outcomes which are inclusive, utilise resources effectively, and optimise client outcomes Demonstrated experience in developing and supporting teaching and/or participation strategies which are inclusive of all students Clarifies needs and expectations of clients, develops practical solutions using their subject expertise.
Liaises and responds to client needs Communicates well with, relates to and sees issues from the perspective of people from a diverse range of cultures, backgrounds and abilities.
