Job Summary:As a Structural Designer, you will use 2-D and 3-D computer-aided design (CAD) to develop design models and drawings for predominantly concrete and structural steel structures and industrial buildings. You will also assist with the development of work plans and review work prepared by designers/drafters.
Major Responsibilities:Assists in the development of design models and drawings for concrete and structural steel structures and steel detailing with minimum supervision.Ensures compliance with approved civil/structural design standards in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design.Coordinates the development of and reviews for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take-offs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the structural discipline.Assists in the development of work plans, budgets, and schedules for basic civil/structural designer tasks based on input and direction from supervisor in designated discipline.Provides on-the-job training for personnel within civil/structural design.Generates 2D drawings or 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models with minimal guidance from others.Ensures civil/structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.Education and Experience Requirements:Requires 4-5 years of relevant work experience as a Structural Designer.Required Knowledge and Skills:Design of a wide range of industrial structures including buildings (covered, opened), material handling structures, equipment supporting structures, building and equipment foundations, retaining walls, etc.Design and modelling of concrete and structural steel in 3D environment (e.g. Tekla, Smart3D).Assisting in preparation of discipline material take-offs.Work in 2D environment while preparing drawings (e.g. Microstation).Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
