Central Coast Council is the third largest water utility (or water and sewage service) in NSW servicing 139,000 homes and businesses in a growing region. This role is a key contributor to the resilience and security of the region's water supply system. The role of Strategy Lead Water Conservation sits in our new Water Resilience Team and is responsible for planning, development and implementation of water conservation programs to increase the resilience and security of the Central Coast's water supply system. Your work will include a mixture of analytics and developing effective relationships with major water users and regional water supply partners. These activities are guided by the Central Coast Water Security Plan. This includes providing ongoing technical and management advice on various issues relating to water demand forecasting and water demand management programs. The role should also consider the efficient level of water conservation investments to be undertaken. This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community. Key activities of this role include: Develop water efficiency programs including developing and implementing appropriate governance and risk frameworks, performance measures, reporting standards, assessment tools and systems to track, monitor and report on identified milestones and deliverables to ensure effective governance of the programs from inception to completion Develop and maintain effective relationships with large water users to enable effective Water Efficiency Management Plans (WEMP) to be prepared and implemented Works closely with Communication and Engagement team to provide key advice and direction to community based water conservation activities and programs to enable behavioural change targeted for water conservation and increased utilisation of non-potable water resources Improve existing and develop new tools for water demand analysis and forecasting to guide future water planning, pricing submissions and water conservation activities Foster and develop relationships with internal and external resources, industry partners, water utilities across relevant industry sectors, local government and peak associations, businesses, governmental departments, and agencies Essential criteria: Degree qualification in Economics, Science, Civil / Environmental Engineering or related field, combined with ongoing professional development Current Class C Driver's Licence Experience in water resources operations and/or a demonstrated knowledge of the Urban Water Sector particularly related to the urban water cycle and water demand forecasting techniques Strong written and verbal communication as well as negotiation skills to effectively articulate water conservation strategies to various audiences Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills including an ability to develop and implement innovative solutions and embrace principles of adaptive planning On a project basis, possess the ability to lead small teams or work as part of teams consisting of multi-disciplinary professionals and trades-based staff What we offer: weekly pay cycle generous Leave Provisions: 20 days paid Annual Leave, 15 days Sick Leave/Carers Leave, Health & Wellbeing Leave, Long Service Leave after 5 years, Additional purchased leave, Parental Leave – 18 weeks full pay/36 weeks ½ pay, Paternity Leave - 2 weeks novated leasing program Employee Assistance Program (EAP) available to employees and their families Fitness Passport – access to gyms across the Central Coast and Newcastle Health and wellbeing programs – skin cancer screening, Breast screen, Flu vaccination, blood donations; Recognition of Service individual career development and learning opportunities Reward and Recognition program. This role provides a commencing salary range of between $96.3k to $115.5k per annum dependent on skills and experience + 11% superannuation + $201 weekly Vehicle Allowance ($10,450 per annum). Successful candidates may be required to undertake a course of vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
