Temporary full-time position until March 2025Parental leave backfillSalary commencing at $94,996 per annum (pro rata) plus 11.5% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experienceMonthly RDO availableHybrid working arrangements availableThe OpportunityOur Research and Facilities Planning team charter is to be providers of expert advice and evidence about the municipality's current and future community needs and priorities to achieve Council's MV2040 Strategy vision of a 'healthy city'.This role will lead the organisation to develop spatial based information and analysis to continuously improve its service delivery by undertaking technical research and analysis. With the continuous improvement philosophy at its core, the incumbent will be required to make decisions about the level of support provided to internal clients; this includes deciding whether to design a process, provide advice, complete the work, advocate, collaborate, train or empower.Reporting to the Team Leader Spatial Information and Research, your responsibilities will include:Provide organisation-wide support on projects requiring geospatial analysis, and coordinate research advice relating to community planning and place.Independently develop geospatial tools, processes and templates to support the monitoring, evaluation and implementation of Council's strategic plans and policies.Contribute to the design, development and maintenance of a research portal (social, demographic, economic and spatial data hub).Undertake analysis for a range of land use, community planning, technological, environmental and social issues and topics to help inform evidence-based decision-making, including evaluation and measurement of policy, strategy and service outcomes.Develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships with data owners, and work with others, including subject matter experts (both within Research & Facilities Planning and across the organisation), to monitor, evaluate and review data and to influence good practices with regard to data management.The successful candidate will have a mix of:Technical expertise and experience in research and evaluation methodologies, geospatial analysis and data visualisation (demographic data analysis and service area modelling).Knowledge of the relevant statistical analyses and geospatial technology to effectively plan and manage land use and community development projects.An ability to influence and inform through clear representation of complex data and information to suit a diversity of audiences.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams.Above all they will need to apply problem-solving and strategic thinking to all elements of the role.Next StepsApplications must be submitted through our online system and should be in line with the Moonee Valley City Council Application Guide.
