Kestrel is one of the world's largest producing underground coking, or metallurgical coal mines and produces around 7 million tonnes of metallurgical coal annually.
Our coal is shipped to key markets in Asia and Europe to be used in the steel making process.
The mine is located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 40km Northeast of Emerald in Central QLD.
Our team's capability covers the entire mining process, from development to extraction and processing, environmental management and sustainable rehabilitation.
We have an approved life of mine until 2033 and reserves to 2046 with the potential to increase further.

About the role: We are currently seeking a confident and driven Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join our Strategic Sourcing Team.
In this role you will report to the Principal Contracts & Supply and will be based on site at Kestrel mine working a Monday to Friday or 9-day fortnight.
In this role you will work closely with both our internal stakeholders and external contractors to facilitate and support the delivery of all contracting requirements for the inbound supply chain.

In this role, you will support Kestrel by: Managing low to medium complexity sourcing projects through the source to contract process.
This includes undertaking of the market analysis, conducting RF(x) where applicable, negotiations, establishing contracts and implementation of robust contract management practices.
Assisting with the development of sourcing plans, drafting of contracts, and providing an effective and efficient level of service to the business.
Working with business units to understand their objectives, strategy, planned activities and budgets.
Supporting operations with contract claims, dispute resolution and general commercial advice.
Investigating, analysing and recommending actions to implement cost saving initiatives, and seeking opportunities to deliver year on year total cost of ownership reductions.
About you: A minimum of 3 years' sourcing experience or relevant tertiary qualifications.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in either commerce, business management or a related discipline.
Ability to lead negotiations for commercial agreements with guidance provided where necessary.
Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to influence.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail with an ability to build and foster positive relationships.
Residing in Emerald or willing to relocate.
Experienced in operating Microsoft office.
