Strategic Planner (Open Space) Permanent, Full Time PositionAn exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our dynamic team as Strategic Planner (Open Space) to undertake strategic planning of Council's open space including sport and recreation infrastructure, reserves, trails, and playgrounds.
Key Responsibilities: Coordinate & Develop Open Space Plans & Initiatives, master plans, and feasibility studies.Develop & Implement Strategic Documents such as open space plans.Prepare advice to the Manager as part of strategic/policy planning and growth management as it relates to open space services/infrastructure.About you: Understanding of social, economic, political, and environmental factors as they apply to regional, urban, and rural planning and social development in relation to the needs of the community and District.Knowledge of the role and operations of Local Government and the relationship of Local and State Government.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling positive and constructive relationships with residents, community groups, regional and government agencies, and Council staff, including the ability to communicate with people from highly diverse cultural and social backgrounds.Ability to assist with the initiation and implementation of strategic/planning policy planning initiatives, as they relate to open space infrastructure, to address the current and future needs of the District that are responsive to local community needs whilst cognizant of broader constraints.Mount Barker District Council is committed to creating and supporting a diverse workforce.
