About this opportunity: Council is seeking a motivated and talented Strategic Planner to assist Council's Strategic Planning team in a range of areas including strategic land use planning, policy development, planning for community and economic infrastructure, provision of land for growth, dealing with planning and development challenges in the region, place making and urban design.
The Strategic Planner will investigate, prepare and amend strategic planning documents, including research, reports, position papers, statistics, related public consultation and promotional material on strategic planning initiatives.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills: Relevant experience in strategic planning and/or development assessmentQualifications in Urban & Regional Planning or similar qualification that is eligible for membership to the Planning Institute of Australia or equivalent.Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.Sound knowledge and understanding of the role and function of strategic land use planning in local government.Knowledge of State planning legislation, instruments and policies - including the Planning Act, Planning Regulation 2017 and State Planning Policy and development assessment.Why work for Mackay Regional Council?
