Provide strategic advice and support across the organisation to ensure that Council's communications are appropriate, branded, relevant and targeted, and achieve the strategic objectives of Hume City Council.
What you'll be doing: Contribute to the development and delivery of communications plans to raise awareness and inform our community about Council's services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events.Provide strategic communications for key decisions of the Council.Support the development, execution, and evaluation of strategic communications campaigns.Support the development of high-level strategic communications advice for senior decision-makers on key issues, policy matters and implementation priorities to support Council objectives.Provide trusted advice and thought leadership to the Coordinator, Strategic Campaigns and Manager, Strategic Communications on a range of issues.Support the strategic review of Council's communications tools and recommend and implement changes to ensure that they are engaging, innovative, targeted, appropriate, and cost-effective.Participate in local, regional, and state networks/organisations to keep up to date with current communications trends, practices, and requirements.Support the development of strategic reports and conduct key stakeholder briefings on high-risk issues to enhance the reputation of Council.Develop high-level narratives, ensuring strong and consistent key messaging across all strategic communications activities.Provide specialist writing and editing for a range of communications materials and channels that are tailored for various external and internal audiences and stakeholders.The skills and experience you'll bring to the role: Ability to gain cooperation and assistance from people with diverse backgrounds and cultures, both within and external to the organisation, to achieve the objectives of this position.Ability to communicate effectively and consult in a socially and politically sensitive environment.Ability to plan, research, develop, implement, and evaluate communications strategies.Specialist written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to write in a clear, concise, and understandable manner as appropriate for multiple formats including online and digital communication and social media.Proficiency in project managing the production of customer communication materials in a corporate environment for a wide range of audiences.A strong understanding of local, state, and federal government and experience working in a political environment.Required Certifications & Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications and/or substantial demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, marketing, emergency management communications or a similar field.Why Hume City Council?
