An opportunity is available now for a Straddle Operator to join our TriTainer Services team, based at Derrimut, VIC. Immediate Start available. The yard operates between 05:00 AM and midnight with varying shift start and finish times. This position is a flat hourly rate for all hours worked.
Qualifications & experience Current Driver's Licence and Forklift Licence (training can be provided for the right candidate).Requires basic English language skills (numbers, radio and communication instructions).Basic computer literacy is highly desirable.Experience operating container handling equipment is preferred.A good understanding of container terminal operations, including yard movements and other yard handling equipment is preferred.Physically fit and able to pass full medical examination. No fear of heights & must have a sense of depth and distance perception. No colour blindness, good eyesight and hand eye coordination.Understands safety regulations, safe working procedures and safe materials handling procedures and follows safety and work instructions.Has the ability to communicate operational instructions and information via two-way radio system. Understands common used hand signals to communicate without radio system.Tasks & responsibilities Working in a container depot environment, operating a "straddle carrier" container handler. Moving containers between vehicle-trailers and stacks. Conducts operations in a safe manner to ensure all work procedures and safety codes are followed, to prevent injury to all personnel and damage to equipment.Carry out all routine pre and post inspection on equipment for operational conditions and ensure any defects are reported immediately.Immediately reports any safety hazards during operations and if necessary, stops the operation until rectified.Maintains the Operator's cabin & other spaces in a clean and tidy condition at all times.Only operates the equipment as instructed and follows processes and procedures as trained and instructed.Assist with clerical work in the office as required.Benefits Permanent full-time positionOn-site parkingFull annual uniform supplyPlenty of overtime opportunitiesOn-site training and ongoing developmentPenalty rates for afternoon shiftsFurther information on TriTainer Services can be found at https://tritainerservices.com.au/
