About the role Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking an enthusiastic Sterilising Technician (Assistant in Nursing CSSD) to join the team within the Central Sterilising Department (CSSD) on a casual basis. The successful candidate will be required to work on a rotational 24/7 roster which includes night shifts, weekends and public holidays.
As the Assistant in Nursing you will perform all operational tasks required to provide efficient and effective sterile service within the Mater Health Services. The position reports directly to the Nurse Unit Manager and indirectly to the Nursing Director and Director of Nursing.
The Mater nursing team provides the highest level of specialist care to patients, their families, carers and visitors. Our team of industry professionals work together as a cohesive and collaborative unit, going above and beyond to provide an exceptional level of care and deliver the highest level of clinical standards for the patient and the unit.
You will support the theatre and CSSD team in activities that ensure the provision of a safe and efficient sterilising service. You will also participate in hospital quality management systems in the unit to ensure a continuous improvement focus. Your enthusiasm and skills will see you seamlessly integrate into this outstanding team, assisting to provide an exceptional level of care and to hit-the-ground-running.
About you The successful applicant will possess:
Must hold / OR Be enrolled in a Certificate III in Sterilisation Services (mandatory) Relevant experience and knowledge in undertaking Sterile Services functions at an operational level within a Hospital or other large organisations An understanding of a commitment to the Mater Mission, Values and their practical relevance to Sterile Services issues Effective communication skills with staff, customers and service partners and the ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team Experience in Risk Management and Continuous Quality Improvement Systems and a commitment to the introduction of Best Practice Experience in Workplace Health and Safety issues in Sterile Services Experience in loan set processing highly advantageous Mater is Queensland's largest and most innovative not-for-profit healthcare service, providing care for almost 700,000 patients a year across a network of 11 hospitals.
